Canadian Experience Class
Canadian Experience Class - federal immigration program, which requires at least 1 year of work experience in Canada. Works through the Express Entry system.
Minimum Requirements

  • work experience in Canada from 1 year over the last 3, subject to full-time work (from 30 hours per week) in a profession of NOC TEER level 0, 1, 2, 3;
  • suitable language level;
  • no ban on entry into Canada.
Below we will analyze in detail each factor for the Canadian Experience Class.

Education

Not required for this program, but does affect your overall Express Entry score. In most cases, without confirmation of your diploma, you will not be able to achieve a passing grade.

Language skills

For the Canadian Experience Class you will need English or French at the level:

  • CLB 7 for profession NOC TEER 0, 1;
  • CLB 5 for profession NOC TEER 2, 3.
To do this, you must pass one of the tests approved by Canada: most often these are IELTS for English and TEF Canada for French.
To create a profile in EE, taking a language test is a mandatory step, as you will need to provide a result number. Tests are valid for 2 years.
Work experience in Canada

1 year full-time (30 hours per week) in the last 3 years prior to application. If you worked part-time, then you need experience proportional to full time by hour.

Responsibilities performed in previous job(s) must be within the National Occupational Code (NOC) TEER Occupational Codes 0, 1, 2, 3.

In the letter of recommendation, which is used to confirm work experience, your duties must fully or partially coincide with those indicated in the Main duties block of the selected code in the NOC.
Immigration process
When you participate in the selection process through Express Entry, you should understand that you cannot “check the box” in front of a certain program. The system will rank you according to all current programs. As a result, you can see how many of them your profile responds to. If you want to learn about this in detail, go to our article about Express Entry.

The immigration procedure will be briefly described below.

1. Express Entry registrations.

If you have assessed your chances and realized that you are applying for a federal program, you need to create an Express Entry profile.

At this stage, you fill out basic information about yourself: age, education, work experience, language level, etc. Based on them, the system automatically evaluates whether you qualify for Express Entry.

If so, the profile is moved to the candidate pool (where all Express Entry participants are located).

This is only the first stage and does not guarantee successful immigration.

2. Selection of candidates.

After moving to the candidate pool, your data is evaluated again. This time by the CRS system, which provides the appropriate score. The higher it is, the more likely you are to receive an immigration invitation.
Before the pandemic, invitations were sent consistently twice a month. After there was a long break, and in the summer of 2022 the selections resumed, but now there is no previous stability: there may be 3 selections per month, or maybe only 1.

While you are in the candidate pool, you can edit your profile. For example, if you passed the language test with the best scores.

The profile is active for 1 year, after which it must be created again.

3. Submission of an application for immigration.

Letter of Invitation (ITA) is given to those who after selection score a passing mark and fulfill the criteria, if any.

The invitation is active for 60 days. During this time, it is necessary to collect the necessary documents, fill out additional forms, and pay fees. After that, the application is considered submitted.

4. Review of the application and request for additional documents.

If the information provided is insufficient to make a final decision, you may request any additional documents. And you, in turn, will need to provide them within the specified time.

5. Decision.

In case of a positive decision, you need to paste the visa with which you must fly to Canada. There you will be in the status of a permanent resident (Permanent Resident).
