Agri-Food Immigration Pilot - a new immigration program
Agri-Food Immigration Pilot –is a program designed to attract workers to Canada's agribusiness sector. The main task of this complex is the production and processing of agricultural raw materials and the subsequent production of food products.

The program has been extended until May 14, 2025.
Eligibility Requirements

To participate in the Agri-Food program, you must:

  • have current work experience;
  • have a valid job offer;
  • meet educational requirements;
  • meet language requirements;
  • prove that you have the funds to settle in.

Relevant work experience

The program is only relevant to those who have accumulated 1 year (1,560 hours) of work experience in Canada in the last 3 years in a relevant occupation.
The year of Canadian experience must have been obtained through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program with LMIA for at least 12 months.

What you should know when calculating:

  • hours in full-time employment (30 hours or more per week) are taken into account;
  • work experience in different professions relevant for this program and for different employers is taken into account;
  • you must have worked for at least 1 year. That is, you cannot work 60 hours a week and gain the required amount of experience in six months;
  • you must be gainfully employed;
  • experience gained through self-employment is not counted.

Which professions are relevant

1. Meat production occupations:

63201: butchers;
65202: meat separators and fishmongers;
94141: industrial butchers and meat splitters, poultry producers;
82030: agricultural service contractors and farm managers;
84120: specialized livestock handlers and farm machinery operators;
85100: livestock laborers;
95106: food and beverage workers.

2: Greenhouse, nursery and floriculture production, including mushroom production:

82030: agricultural service contractors and farm managers;
84120: specialized livestock handlers and farm machinery operators;
85100: livestock laborers;
85101: crop harvesters.

3. livestock production, except aquaculture:

82030: agricultural service contractors and farm managers;
84120: specialized livestock handlers and farm machinery operators;
85100: livestock laborers;
85101: crop harvesters.

Valid Job Offer

The job offered must meet the following requirements:

  • full-time (at least 30 hours per week);
  • non-seasonal, i.e., permanent paid work with no breaks depending on the time of year;
  • permanent, i.e. the job invitation does not have an end date;
  • the salary must be at least the average wage for that NOC. You can look on a Canadian job site;
  • not in Quebec.

Education Requirements

High school diploma if you studied in Canada. Completed grade 11 if you studied in Russia.
Education from outside Canada will need to be verified.


Language Requirements

A language proficiency of 4 CLB, which is below the intermediate level, is sufficient. What is the CLB.

To determine your level, you need to pass one of the tests:

  • IELTS for English;
  • TEF Canada for French.

Proof of means to settle

If you are not legally employed in Canada at the time of application, you will need to prove that you have enough money to support yourself and all family members.

The amount required depends on the size of your family and is shown in the table below.
Even family members (spouse, children) who are not immigrating with you should be considered.
